Paul Hodge is a writer-composer from Brisbane, Australia.  His most recent work, Clinton The Musical, for which he wrote book, music and lyrics, was performed Off-Broadway at New World Stages in 2015, at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, London’s King’s Head Theatre, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and will have its Australian Premiere in 2016 with the Black Swan State Theatre Company of Western Australia. Off-Broadway, Clinton was directed by Tony nominee Dan Knechtges and starred Tony nominee Kerry Butler as Hillary Clinton and Emmy winner Judy Gold as Eleanor Roosevelt.  It received a New York Times Critics Pick, a nomination for Best New Musical from the Off-Broadway Alliance and nominations for Best New Musical and Best Book of a Musical at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

In 2018 Paul was selected with acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Naomi Iizuka for the prestigious Ground Floor Residency at the Tony award-winning Berkeley Rep Theatre to develop their musical Okuni.
In 2017, Paul received the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Young and Emerging Artist Fellowship, The Dame Joan Sutherland Fund Award and Arts Queensland Individuals Grant to complete a mentorship with Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Alain Boublil, writer of Les Misérables and Miss Saigon
 

Paul was commissioned by the Brisbane Powerhouse and JUTE Theatre Company with award-winning playwright Stephen Carleton to write a musical based on former Queensland Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen, which premiered in the Queensland Music Festival 2017, receiving five Matilda Award nominations. 
In 2019 Paul will be an artist-in-residence with La Boite Theatre Company developing an opera for Opera Queensland with award-winning screenwriter and playwright Michelle Law.
Paul's musical, Terra Australis, was shortlisted for the QLD Premier’s Drama Award 2012-13. He completed a PhD in Music Composition and previously received the Dalley Scarlett Memorial Scholarship to complete a Masters in Music Theatre Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  Awards include the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Young and Emerging Artist Fellowship, a Dame Joan Sutherland Fund Award, the Margaret Nickson Prize and 4MBS Sid Page Musica Viva Chamber Music Prize.
